Agitated Plover Salon: Introduction

Welcome to the Agitated Plover Salon. We are a collective of Kingston based contemporary artists working in a range of media. Our exhibition project “Unapologetically Expedient” was a series of 3-hour exhibitions that infiltrated unexpected venues while exploiting an economy of available resources. In November 2013, we took over a vacant duplex, and in December 2013, we transformed a renovated garage. In April 2014 we were hosted by the City of Kingston in the wonderful subterranean Old City Hall Jail. Our penultimate show was in a cold, wet limestone basement, so typical of many homes in Kingston. And, what turned out to be our last show, was at the Kingston Motel West, now demolished, where we rented 6 rooms and a hospitality room, to showcase work by the remaining 6 members of the collective. Although now on an extended hiatus, we reserve the right to re-appear when the time is right!

Agitated Plover Salon was formed in July 2013 from participants of Your Own Grad School, a project by Cliff Eyland and Jeanne Randolph that took place at Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre in Kingston, from March 9 to April 20, 2013. Our mission was to seize the indomitable spirit of DIY and renegade intellectualism to foster community, revel in artistic discussion and argument, and create opportunities for growth. Collective members were: Sunny Kerr, Julia Krolik, Michèle LaRose, Erin Milliken, Milosh Rodic, Chantal Rousseau, and Harry Symons.
